Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pink lehenga from her mehandi is for brides who love soothing hues

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan chose a romantic pink lehenga for her pre-wedding celebrations back in 2007. Here's how you can get the look

For her wedding with Abhishek Bachchan back in April 2007, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan served up a good mix of traditional and contemporary bridal looks. While the star dressed in a pastel blue Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga for her sangeet, a regal gold silk sari won her vote for the pheras. With her picture-perfect line-up, the 46-year-old also made a switch to another pastel outfit for her mehandi celebrations 13 years ago—a blush pink lehenga set crafted by Neeta Lulla. Fun fact: the designer also dressed the actor for her very first appearance at Cannes Film Festival in 2002. Given the duo’s history, it comes as no surprise that Rai Bachchan made sure her trousseau included a Lulla creation. Scroll to take a closer look at her outfit.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pink lehenga came with a modest blouse design

The daytime pre-wedding event saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a baby pink lehenga that was generously accented with intricate sequin and thread work. Instead of picking a midriff-baring choli, the bride took a modest approach with her blouse design. She relied on a long, cap-sleeved top that allowed for comfortable henna application. To accentuate her mehandi look, Rai Bachchan opted for jewellery made with fresh blooms: a long necklace, earrings, bajubandh and even a maatha patti. She had her hair combed back into a sleek bun to avoid flyaways, and the highlight of her beauty look, pun intended, was her pre-wedding glow.

If you’re the kind of bride who’s on the lookout for outfits you can repeat even after your big day, a pink lehenga like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s is just what you need. Post your own wedding, you can easily wear it to a BFF’s pheras or mehandi party. Want to add a similar number to your closet? Shop for an option via our edit now.
