Rumours of Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha’s much-awaited wedding have been doing the rounds for the longest time. The Fukrey co-stars, who have reportedly been dating since 2015, made their first public appearance two years later at the premiere for Fazal's film Victoria & Abdul at the 74th Venice International Film Festival. Unlike most Bollywood couples, the couple has never tried to keep their romance under wraps, and has been spotted together at several occasions over the span of their relationship. So it comes as no surprise that Fazal and Chadha let their fans know about their wedding, that is to take place two months from now, with a public announcement.

“Currently, only the date for the registration has been taken. By process, the window that is valid is for three months from the date that has been allotted. The couple are working towards an official registration in the last week of April post which the celebrations will follow. All we can say at the moment is that it’s a happy occasion and all the parties involved are elated,” the couple’s spokesperson revealed in light of their application for a marriage registration back in February 2020.

According to reports, the duo originally considering April 21, 23 and 24 for the celebrations. They also blocked a couple of prime hotels for the impending nuptials. In most likelihood, they were to host the main ceremony in New Delhi, Chadha’s hometown, followed by a court marriage and reception in Fazal’s hometown Lucknow. Like many of the Bollywood couples before them, they are likely to host one party in Mumbai for their friends from the fraternity.

But due to the unprecedented coronavirus outbreak, the couple has rescheduled the special occasion to a later date. Chadha revealed, “Ali and I were organising everything ourselves. The invites were yet to be sent out, but we had finalised other things, which had to be cancelled. Now, we will take a call only when normalcy returns.” Keeping his spirits high, Fazal went on to add, “It has been delayed until further notice. I think we will celebrate with the world when everything is open again. We have something to celebrate… some good news hopefully, that everyone will get and we’ll make sure to bring that along with our wedding. Until then, we’re following all the rules of the lockdown and awaiting the next steps.”
