Chambered Nautilus in Tentacles (10/29/19)

Nautilus pompilius
    • Great Argus
Unfortunately Tentacles was closed when I visited back in March, and I missed these... after missing them a year earlier at Seaworld... have to try and get back to MBA to see them!

      Great Argus likes this.

This species seems to be getting harder and harder to see - The one at Shedd is now gone, and the only other aquarium I've been to with them (World Aquarium, now closed) the animal was clearly dead, but still in the tank.
    • Hipporex
      1) This species is gone from the California Academy of Sciences too.

      2) Although this exhibit is still top quality, I remember it was even more impressive when it first opened. Of particular note was a tank with an undescribed species of flapjack octopus (Opisthoteuthis) (it still has yet to be described but was informally refereed to as O. "adorabilis").

      3) @Zoological Point Was this your first time to this aquarium (aka the best aquarium on the West Coast)? Did you enjoy it?
    • Zoological Point
@Hipporex it was and I rather enjoyed it. Monterey Bay is now my third favourite aquarium, following Dallas World (at number one) and Shedd (at two).

Chambered nautilus's are not to rare in the eastern side of the U.S. since I have seen them at the Great Lakes aquarium, and previously at the shedd aquarium. I have probably been to some other aquariums that have them though.
