“Do not be concerned how people treat you…” ~ Yogananda and Jesus

Jeus Krishna flowers

Do not be concerned how people treat you; be concerned only with how you behave.  This ideal was taught by Jesus, by Paramahansa Yogananda, and by all the great ones.  There is a right way to react in every situation in life, toward those who love us and those who love us not; and this is what Lord Krishna meant when he praised evenmindedness as an essential virtue:

“O Arjuna! he who cannot be ruffled by these (contacts of the senses with their objects), who is calm and evenminded during pain and pleasure, he alone is fit to attain everlastingness!”

He didn’t say: “Be evenminded when people are kind and loving toward you.”  That is easy to do.  He taught that we must be evenminded under all circumstances.  When you practice this, you see it brings positive results.
