Actor-turned-author Twinkle Khanna recently opened up about working with Shah Rukh Khan for their film Baadshah. The actress shared an episode of what happened when they were filming the song Mohabbat Ho Gayee together. In the song, the actress had to wear body-tight outfits, and for that, she starved and survived on Channa.
In an interaction with Shrayana Bhattacharya, Twinkle shared that the actresses who keep saying they don't diet and eat everything are liars. She said, "Most of them are starving." She said that she was starving to have a flat belly and to fit in the catsuits. The actress stated that she was just thinking that she was going to live on "Chana." She said, "For some reason, being Gujarati, I felt that was also cheap, and you know, I could get it easily wherever I went."
Twinkle said that it was her diet, and in the song, SRK was supposed to lift her. She then added, "I was so scared that I would explode like the gas canisters in the Parliament, but I didn’t." The actress, who is known for her unfiltered opinions, added, "So if you see my teeth clenching there, other things are also clenching and just holding on, but yes, I survived that bit as well."
Twinkle also stated that the movie was only "centered around her navel," and nobody was bothered or protested about it. She said that at that time, it was perfectly fine. She said, "We didn’t think it was misogynistic. In fact, I think I thanked the writer."
The iconic film, starring SRK and Twinkle, was released in 1999.
