Former Miss Tibet is dead

DHARAMSALA: Tenzin Nyima, who won the Miss Tibet beauty crown in 2005, has died of meningitis, Tibetan sources here said. She was 24.

Nyima was the only contender for the 2005 title. Organisers of the pageant had described her as a 'lone brave' contender.

At the time of her death in a New Delhi hospital, she was working as a customer care executive at an IT company in the Indian capital, her family said.

According to the Miss Tibet website, Nyima was born in 1983 and studied at the Tibetan Homes School in Mussoorie.

She was a final year BA English Honours student when she participated in the Miss Tibet pageant. Playing basket ball and dancing Hindi film numbers were her expressed hobbies.
