For International Women’s Day, actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna had something to share with her fans and readers. She wrote a column for the occasion and titled it- ‘The song and dance around Women’s Day’.

She wrote- “Sexual assault and harassment are not isolated to India, but the duality is highlighted each time we witness the two different sides of our culture. On one hand, one sees goddesses being honoured, and, on the other, the plight of so many of our women. Perhaps it calls for a deeper exploration because unlike most western religions that have a certain masculine energy, our goddesses are as revered as our gods, yet the respect we have for feminine divinity does not translate into her flesh and blood avatars.”

On Valentine’s Day

While most of us would go blank on the question, Twinkle Khanna has come up with a quirky response to the same while also explaining her version of love. She also does not shy away from expressing her opinions about the special day to celebrate love.

Sharing her hilarious approach to consumerism surrounding Valentine’s Day, Twinkle Khanna dropped a post on her Instagram handle in which she wrote, “With all its consumerism, Valentine’s Day perhaps makes the abstraction of love more concrete.” She further revealed the bitter truth about what women get on Valentine’s Day and added, “Though if you ask women who have been married for over a decade, the most honest answer to ‘What did your husband give you on Valentine’s Day?’ would be, ‘As usual, a headache. Love, in fact, may be the ultimate thought experiment. It’s a paradox where accepting each other’s flaws creates an imperfectly perfect connection, with or without wilting red roses and an Archie’s card featuring two cartoon hearts winking at each other.”
