Miss Tibet Pageant coming back in 2024

I am happy to announce that the Miss Tibet Pageant will be back after a hiatus of five years. There wasn't any chance to host the Pageant during the pandemic, and then in 2022, there was only one applicant. In 2023 we didn't even try to host one due to the internal political situation of the Tibetans in exile.

This pageant was introduced as a platform and an opportunity for young Tibetan women when we first started it in 2002. The aims and objectives are still the same, and it is still perhaps the biggest platform working for the empowerent of young Tibetan women.

The Miss Tibet Pageant is a neutral platform. We hope that the internal Tibetan politics will not affect the organisation of the Pageant. The dreams and aspirations of the young Tibetan women shouldn't be shattered by political differences.

I urge parents not to bar their daughters from participating in the Pageant even if their political stand is different from that of the organiser. The parents must rise above such views, and respect the aspirations and dreams of their own daughters to excel in life. The Pageant has no political agenda, and is made for the benefit of young Tibetan women, and of Tibet.

Since the Pageant didn't take place in the last five years, I am sure that there will be many applicants for the next one. Talks are on with a Tibetan organisation in New York to join hands to host the next Pageant. It could happen sometime in July or August of 2024.

The application will be up on this website soon, when we have more things worked out. There probably won't be any change in the format of the Pageant, or the terms and conditions.
