That's right, the actor, who has famously stayed away from social media all these years, may finally give her fans a closer peek at her life through these channels. Recently spotted leaving for Australia to ring in husband Abhishek Bachchan's birthday, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a favourite with Bollywood fans and rightly so, considering her glamorous, jet-setting lifestyle.
So, despite having enough fodder to feed an Instagram account, why does the former Miss World remain off all social media, one might wonder (although she does have many unofficial fan accounts, some of them garnering a following of as many as a million people). Rai Bachchan spilled the beans in a recent interview with Vogue Australia, saying, “It's such a crazy race. It's becoming such a barometer of popularity, with people feeling the need to feed that monster and to kind of reflect how popular you are: do you have enough likes or don't you? That seems to be consuming a lot of people and I just didn't want to belong to that.”
However, she was quick to add that she might, after all, consider joining social media soon, “I do see the incredible ability to remain connected, I do see the power and the strength of the positive potential of social media. I may hop on, but you'll know when I do.” Certainly, considering the buzz she creates with every appearance, if she does join the social media bandwagon, it will make news.
